Trophy titles on the line

All three CAMS Australian GT Trophy Series presented by Pirelli class titles will be decided this weekend, as part of the final round of the Shannons Nationals.

Racing at Wakefield Park for the first time, tense title battles will come under pressure in Trophy, Challenge and MARC classes.

Two 50-minute races will decide the champions in each class, with 220 points on offer.

In Trophy, Steve McLaughlan and Rod Salmon are locked in battle, with 49 points splitting the two Audi drivers.

McLaughlan has picked up four race wins in 2017, while Salmon has remained consistent with podiums and two wins.

Mark Griffith is the current leader in Challenge, holding a 61 points lead over Scott Hookey.

An impressive outing from young racer Aaron Cameron at Queensland Raceway saw him shoot straight to the top of the MARC class standings, who now holds a slim 10 point advantage over last year’s winner Jake Camilleri.

However, neither driver has entered this weekend, leaving an open spot for Keith Kassulke and John Goodacre to grab the class title.

Action in the CAMS Australian GT Trophy Series will begin on Saturday, 18 November with both races on Sunday, 19 November.
