Australian Racing Group (ARG) will now hold the commercial, promotional and marketing rights to all official Trans Am marks after securing a deal with the Trans Am Race Company.
The multi-year arrangement will allow ARG, who own the Category Management Agreement with Motorsport Australia, to build the status of the USA based brand in Australia.
Already a partner with the TA2 Muscle Cars Series, which will make its major circuit debut with 28-cars at the Superloop Adelaide 500 in March, ARG is hoping to help Australian based TA2 car owners make the step up from state level to a national level.
ARG CEO Matt Braid was excited with the new opportunity as they look to increase the prestige of the popular state-run category.
“It is an honour to have the official endorsement from the Trans Am Race Company as we look towards a big, bold future for Trans Am classes in Australia and New Zealand,” Braid said.
“Trans Am is such an iconic racing brand and its series has been a stalwart of the American racing scene for decades and is respected throughout the world.
“There are now a significant number of TA2 cars in the country, and we are working with the current competitor base and category administrators on the best way forward for all.
Trans Am Race Company President John Clagett was also thrilled with the opportunity to build the category.
“It is fantastic that TA2 has gained an international recognition as a tremendous technical package at an affordable price point,” Clagett said.
“ARG – one of the premier race promoters in Australia – has chosen to follow the TA2 technical rules package and to be officially licensed for use of the Trans Am marks and to have a services agreement with Trans Am Race Company.”
The TA2 series will hold seven rounds in 2020, with two of them to form part of the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships, as well as the brand new Bathurst event later this year.
